How to Decorate For Fall
When it comes to decorating your home for the season, think about what you already have that you can incorporate into your new look. Choose what works and remove any decor pieces or furniture items that are getting in the way.
The easiest way to decorate for fall is to get inspiration online and decide which fall decor ideas you like best. Then, select a few key pieces you truly love and proudly display them in your home, creating a new fall vibe you can enjoy the entire season.
Decorating for fall should be a fun experience so feel free to mix and match pieces, move items around, and repurpose things you already have in a new way.
You can even have the kids help out and redecorate their own rooms to their liking.
Just remember that while it’s fun to decorate your home in fall, winter, spring, and summer, you can do so without completely going over the top.
It’s amazing how you can change the entire style of a room with just some pillows, blankets, wall art, and plants.
When to Decorate For Fall
If you love fall as much as I do, you may be ready to decorate for fall any time of the year. But to stay on-trend, you should probably wait until it’s actually time for fall.
The best time to decorate for fall in the Northern Hemisphere is September and in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s March. The official start to fall ushers in cool breezes, changing leaves, and pumpkin-spiced everything so it’s the perfect time to give your home a fresh fall look.
Whenever you decide to get started, just have fun with it. Fall decorating can be a leisurely weekend activity in between sipping a chai latte and going for a hike in the woods.

It wasn’t until this year that I really considered decorating for fall. Next year when I’m in my new office I’m definitely going to go ALL OUT with fall decorations! Some of these are such lovely pieces! x
That sounds fun! I am finally getting an office this year so I’ll have to do the same.
Fall is my favourite season! I love the colours and the changing leaves. I actually bought a black and white checkered blanket this year that looks like the one you have in your post 🙂 I love those coastal themed items too! That lantern is really cute!
I’m so glad you liked a lot of the items I selected. It’s really fun putting these collections together.
The cushions with fall slogans are gorgeous! I’m hoping to move house soon so will stick to the fall candles for now, but when I have a house I would love to decorate for this time of year.
Decorating is really fun to do when you move. Good luck finding what you are looking for soon.
ohhhh that bluish lantern is speaking to my heart! love it. One of the things I loved about living in the US was how fall is truly celebrated over there. It’s my favorite season, and I love how the decorations amplify it and bring in that cozy feel I associate with fall. Great choices!
I’m so glad you like it. I love the blue lantern too. Anything coastal makes me happy.
Absolutely love the coastal and Halloween look! Love this season 🍂🥰
Same. Fall in the Midwest is my favorite.
Really cute stuff!! I like how you have divided them into categories…love all the pillows and the Haloween collection!!
Thank you. I figured the categories would really help readers see each style separately. Glad you liked some of the pieces.
These are so cute! You can never have too many pillows, blankets or candles!
So true! I’m a minimalist, and I still have my fair share of those items too.
I love the pumpkin pillows. They are so lovely. Thank you for sharing.
I’m so glad to hear that. Thank you for checking them out.
Great gift ideas, but wouldn’t 100% polyester and/or microfiber blankets just create a lot of static charge when using them? I made the mistake of buying 100% microfiber bed sheets and I had to get rid of them
Good question. I’m not a fiber expert by any means, but I have several blankets now and they never get static. Maybe it’s because I wash them and then line dry.
The right amount of looking will always turn up what you need at the price you need it. I love the mix of pillows and pumpkins and, of course, the candles, but the autumn leaves blanket is my favorite thing off this list; my sister got one quite like it and I have needed one to snuggle in ever since.
Thanks so much for sharing!
That blanket looks very comfy. We all need something like that to relax with at the end of the day for sure.
These are some great suggestions for fall decorations. Halloween was my best from this article. Thanks for sharing this.
Yes! The Halloween decor is pretty amazing. I love it too.
You’ve got some great options here. I am IN LOVE with the spider web blanket. I am definitely going to have to look into that for my office. I am a Halloween addict and consider this time of year the perfect time to go shopping for home decor 😂
Same. I noticed that blanket right away and had to include it.
Love the Coastal designs! <3 If our country had Fall season I'd definitely buy me some cute square pillows and placemats! Thanks for sharing this! 🙂 xo
I’m so glad to hear you like the coastal look. I found it really visually pleasing too.
I really want to go all out Halloween this year. We never celebrate but if feels like the more we are told we can’t do the things we’d normally, the more we want to do them!
I will be checking some of these out tonight x x
I feel the exact same way. I want to bring some normalcy to my kids.
All you chose are inviting to have, but I must say when I got to the beach theme it resonated with me. Love your ideas. Lots of fun!
I’m so glad you found a style that resonates with you. I always find peace near the water so I wanted to include coastal colors too.
